John 5:24
New Living Translation
24 “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

John 5:24
The Message
24 “It’s urgent that you listen carefully to this: Anyone here who believes what I am saying right now and aligns himself with the Father, who has in fact put me in charge, has at this very moment the real, lasting life and is no longer condemned to be an outsider. This person has taken a giant step from the world of the dead to the world of the living.

Hebrews 2:18
New Living Translation
18 Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

Hebrews 2:18
The Message
16-18 It’s obvious, of course, that he didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.

Jeremiah 17:5-8
New Living Translation

5 This is what the Lord says:“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans,    who rely on human strength    and turn their hearts away from the Lord.6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert,    with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness,    in an uninhabited salty land.
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord    and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank,    with roots that reach deep into the water.Such trees are not bothered by the heat    or worried by long months of drought.Their leaves stay green,    and they never stop producing fruit.

Jeremiah 17:5-8
The Message
5-6 God’s Message:
“Cursed is the strong one    who depends on mere humans,Who thinks he can make it on muscle alone    and sets God aside as dead weight. He’s like a tumbleweed on the prairie,    out of touch with the good earth. He lives rootless and aimless    in a land where nothing grows.
7-8 “But blessed is the man who trusts me, God,    the woman who sticks with God.They’re like trees replanted in Eden,    putting down roots near the rivers—Never a worry through the hottest of summers,    never dropping a leaf,Serene and calm through droughts,    bearing fresh fruit every season.

Psalm 138
New Living Translation
1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart;    I will sing your praises before the gods.2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship.    I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness;for your promises are backed    by all the honor of your name.3 As soon as I pray, you answer me;    you encourage me by giving me strength.
4 Every king in all the earth will thank you, Lord,    for all of them will hear your words.5 Yes, they will sing about the Lord’s ways,    for the glory of the Lord is very great.6 Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,    but he keeps his distance from the proud.
7 Though I am surrounded by troubles,    you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand,
and the power of your right hand saves me.8 The Lord will work out his plans for my life—    for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.    Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

Psalm 138
The Message
138 1-3 Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!”    Angels listen as I sing my thanks.I kneel in worship facing your holy temple    and say it again: “Thank you!”Thank you for your love,    thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name,    most holy is your Word. The moment I called out, you stepped in;    you made my life large with strength.
4-6 When they hear what you have to say, God,    all earth’s kings will say “Thank you.”They’ll sing of what you’ve done:    “How great the glory of God!”And here’s why: God, high above, sees far below;    no matter the distance, he knows everything about us.
7-8 When I walk into the thick of trouble,    keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand    strike my foes,With your other hand    save me.Finish what you started in me, God.    Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.

Psalm 91:1-3
New Living Translation

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High    will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.2 This I declare about the Lord:He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;    he is my God, and I trust him.3 For he will rescue you from every trap    and protect you from deadly disease.

Psalm 91:1-13
The Message
91 1-13 You who sit down in the High God’s presence,    spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.    I trust in you and I’m safe!”That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,    shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you—    under them you’re perfectly safe;    his arms fend off all harm.Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,    not flying arrows in the day,Not disease that prowls through the darkness,    not disaster that erupts at high noon.Even though others succumb all around,    drop like flies right and left,    no harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,    watch the wicked turn into corpses.Yes, because God’s your refuge,    the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,    harm can’t get through the door.He ordered his angels    to guard you wherever you go.If you stumble, they’ll catch you;    their job is to keep you from falling. You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,    and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

Psalm 103:13
New Living Translation
13 The Lord is like a father to his children,    tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Psalm 103:13-18
The Message
6-18 God makes everything come out right;    he puts victims back on their feet.He showed Moses how he went about his work,    opened up his plans to all Israel.God is sheer mercy and grace;    not easily angered, he’s rich in love.He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold,    nor hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve,    nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth,    so strong is his love to those who fear him.And as far as sunrise is from sunset,    he has separated us from our sins.As parents feel for their children,    God feels for those who fear him.He knows us inside and out,    keeps in mind that we’re made of mud.  Men and women don’t live very long;    like wildflowers they spring up and blossom,But a storm snuffs them out just as quickly,    leaving nothing to show they were here.God’s love, though, is ever and always,    eternally present to all who fear him,Making everything right for them and their children    as they follow his Covenant ways
and remember to do whatever he said.

Malachi 3:6-7
New Living Translation

6 “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. 7 Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
“But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’
8 “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me!
“But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’
“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease.[a] Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

Malachi 3:6-12
The Message
6-7 “I am God—yes, I Am. I haven’t changed. And because I haven’t changed, you, the descendants of Jacob, haven’t been destroyed. You have a long history of ignoring my commands. You haven’t done a thing I’ve told you. Return to me so I can return to you,” says God-of-the-Angel-Armies.
“You ask, ‘But how do we return?’
8-11 “Begin by being honest. Do honest people rob God? But you rob me day after day.
“You ask, ‘How have we robbed you?’
“The tithe and the offering—that’s how! And now you’re under a curse—the whole lot of you—because you’re robbing me. Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams. For my part, I will defend you against marauders, protect your wheat fields and vegetable gardens against plunderers.” The Message of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.
12 “You’ll be voted ‘Happiest Nation.’ You’ll experience what it’s like to be a country of grace.” God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so.
